One of our favorite places for families to have fun is the ARTitorium on Broadway! Here’s some of our favorite things about this amazing interactive art adventure and why we think you and your family will love it.
History
The ARTitorium is overseen by the Idaho Falls Arts Council, and they also operate the Willard Arts Center and the Colonial Theater. It is located in downtown Idaho Falls in the old Rio Theater on West Broadway. The ARTitorium originally opened to the public in August of 2014 and has been attracting families for educational fun ever since.
Core Values
The ARTitorium operates under these 7 core values according to their website:
- to inspire kids 0-12 years of age and their families to interact with, explore, and create art
- to embrace mess and noise as a mode of creativity
- to focus on hands-on, tactile, immersive, and play-based attractions
- to expand access for participation
- to give kids access and exposure to a wide variety of art experiences
- to encourage intergenerational experiences
- to collaborate with kids, caregivers, parents, teachers, and schools in developing exhibits and programs
Attractions
The attractions change regularly to provide fresh and fun experiences for everyone! Currently they offer attractions that include:
- noise-making installation
- art-making software
- green screen studio
- collaborative murals
- stop-motion animation stations
Theater
On location there is also the MC Theater that hosts a wide variety of performances. There have been shows, music and films from local and national artists.
Art Classes
The ARTitorium is host to art classes throughout throughout the year! There are so many different crafts that can be learned! We definitely recommend checking out their website to see the full list of classes they offer and to register.
