The Basics
When you start your vehicle, the engine light should illuminate with the rest of your dashboard for a few seconds. If it remains on, this means it is giving you a warning. The engine light comes on to warn you there is a malfunction in your vehicle’s emissions, ignition, fuel or exhaust system.
